Personal Message From Mac Harb

Dear Friend,

I would like to thank you for supporting the Harb Seal Bill to end the commercial seal hunt in Canada. Your response is part of a 200,000 strong flood of letters, emails and calls that we have received so far in support of this legislation.

Our goal is to gather 500,000 names through petitions and emails - a target that will ensure the Government of Canada recognizes that Canadians and their friends around the world want to see an end to the commercial seal hunt.

I am enclosing a copy of a petition to share with your family, friends and colleagues. It is not necessary to fill out each and every line on this petition - we are grateful for every signature we can count as one more vote to end the commercial seal hunt in Canada. Please send your petitions to my office address printed at the top of each sheet. Remember, no postage is required if mailed within Canada.

Together, we will ensure the Government understands that it is time to end the commercial seal hunt and transition those involved in this dying industry into sustainable, 21st century jobs.

Thanks once again for your support for the Harb Seal Bill.
Mac Harb

Senator Harb I am grateful that someone in Parliament shows some compassion for the seals. They have gone through so much. I've also been advocating with a petition, facebook, and on our website. I was sitting, thinking I am proud in many ways to be Canadian, I am ashamed when I think of this. I am ashamed that the authoratative Government positions who can change this are so cruel and simply heartless, when this disgusting ritual should have been stopped decades ago. I wonder if you could please enlighten your colleagues, I found it quite interesting -
I googled 3 words I've been thinking quite often "shame on Canada" results 13,200,000. Just a few days later 13,400,000. Then thinking of the shameful behaviour of Japan, the reputation they have for the mistreatment of animals & wildlife and the similar fight to save yet another docile and friendly marine species, I googled "shame on Japan" results 4,900,000. Thought they would like to know! Since they represent our Country, and everyone around the globe is aware that the residents of this country don't want it to continue they should know that the world is ashamed of them (present company excluded). This will destroy our country eventually. They need to do right by us as promised. Take care and Keep up your great work. Lorri , Ontario
